Wonderfully Made
The human body is amazing! If you’ve ever given birth or have witnessed one, even in a movie, chances are you get what I mean.
Yet clients often come to me with the notion that their body has let them down, failed them or … even betrayed them. I hear this most often in women over 40.
K.C. ‘s story is very typical of a forty-something woman today. She’s a busy wife and Mom with two active ‘tween’ boys. She’s also a working professional.
Somewhere along the way, her weight crept up, energy bottomed out and she often had trouble falling or staying asleep.
She felt uncomfortable in her own skin and wanted desperately to get back in shape for herself and her family.
The worst part … she couldn’t even recognize herself in the mirror anymore.
She’d tried everything she could think of - diets, pills, potions and exercise for five long years and nothing worked.
She found herself on a prescription med for her thyroid and another for her mood. Her doctor was simply following common protocol. Giving pills for her symptoms, instead of getting to the bottom of them.
The prescriptions seemed to help at first, but the longer she stayed on the meds, the worse things got.
The meds didn’t do what the doctor said they would do – trim her down and make her happier.
Nope, it was quite the opposite! Those meds made her heavier and heavier … sadder and sadder over time.
K.C. felt like her body was turning on her … maybe even betraying her.
She asked herself, “Is this what forty-something is like?”
She almost gave in to the notion that “this is it” at this stage in life. The dreaded Peri-menopausal 3 F’s – Fat, Frumpy and Frazzled. Just like her friends.
But something inside her refused to give in to her current, unhealthy and unhappy state. She wanted a better life, so she picked up the phone and called me.
The truth was we had met five years earlier at a talk I gave. And she kept my contact info all those years!
“I just wasn’t ready until now, Mary.”
K.C. had to come to the end of herself and realize she needed help.
She was finally ready to change! In fact, she wanted help so bad, she wanted it yesterday!
But she needed a trustworthy guide ... one who understood her unique needs ... someone willing to take the time and energy to “get” her, truly listen, find the answers and then create a natural solution designed for her.
In several months, K.C.’s body transformed! Her friends who hadn’t seen her in a while couldn’t even recognize her.
In fact, I didn’t either! … for a split second. Even I had to do a double-take when she came to my office that day. She seemed sooo different. In a good way 😊.
Her body composition was fantastic! She was positively Confident, Glowing and downright Happy. So happy that it brought a tear to her eye … and mine.
We hugged and celebrated that moment.
It was hard work getting there, but so worth it.
Along the way, K.C. learned that her body is smart. It knows what it needs. It’s innately intelligent. One just needs to trust and listen to it. Like a little kid does.
She no longer craved packaged foods, now that she was ‘free’ - Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Sugar-Free with stevia.
For the first time in her life, she could actually feel how the food she chose affected her.
With her body’s inflammation decreasing, her body started trimming down on its own. Her digestion and brain worked better too.
It could actually Rebalance, Restore and Renew itself when given what it needed.
- blood sugar, hormones, and neurotransmitters Rebalanced
- nutrient (macro and micro) and protein levels Restored
- body, mind, and spirit Renewed
At long last, K.C. felt comfortable in her own skin again and became a better version of herself. The self she always knew she could be.
More important, she appreciated how wonderfully made her body is - intelligent and resilient. She came understand the biblical truth:
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:14 NIV)
